Gun owners in America have been fighting for decades for the right to defend ourselves. Liberal politicians have been fighting to curtail those rights.
The 2008 Heller decision opened the way for Illinois citizens to finally be allowed to legally carry a concealed weapon.
Unfortunately, the complicated web of laws across the country has turned many law abiding people into criminals for violating obscure portions of a law in a state that they are traveling through. Perhaps their gun is not stored in a proper case for one state that is perfectly appropriate in another.
We need nationwide reciprocity that allows a legally permitted Illinois resident to legally carry their weapon in another state without fear.
HR 38 in the United States Congress would do just that. It is cosponsored by four Illinois Congressmen, Mike Bost, Rodney Davis, Darrin LaHood, and Adam Kinzinger.
